Homemade Energy Balls

I will post more nutritional information over the next few weeks.

Here is a great recipe for Energy Balls that I love.

Home-made Energy Balls

Shape a mix of oats, nuts, dried fruit plus a few extras into balls for a healthy energy snack or a mid-cycle ride boost!

Makes approx 10 snacks (40g each)

Ingredients –

  • 120g mixed nuts
  • 55g dates
  • 55g raisins
  • 120g oats
  • 40g almond butter
  • 25g honey
  • 1 ½ tsp cinnamon powder or mixed spice
  • ½ tsp salt

Method –

  • If you have time dry roast the nuts in a frying pan for a few minutes on a low heat, this just gives more flavour but isn’t essential so don’t worry if you are short of time!
  • Blitz together the nuts, dates and raisins in a food processor. Add the oats, almond butter, honey, cinnamon and salt and continue to pulse until the mixture comes together (you may need to add a little water)
  • Squeeze approx 40g of mixture into balls and shape with your hands.
  • Place in the fridge for 30 minutes to set.
  • Wrap each one individually in foil and keep in the fridge ready for a quick energy snack or pop in the freezer if they won’t be eaten with 5-7 days.

Alternatives –

Swap the dates for chocolate chips.

Roll the finished product in desiccated coconut.
